Memorial Day weekend has long been America’s unofficial declaration that summer has arrived, regardless of what the weather insists. Flights fill, highways slow, and suddenly beach towns, pools, rooftops, and coastlines become crowded again. There is a familiar rhythm to it: coolers packed into car trunks, sunscreen pulled from bathroom cabinets, and plans made around sun rather than schedules.
