Rustic and comforting, this tomato-based shrimp stew is gently spiced with fennel, allspice, and chili, balanced by a touch of sweetness and slow-simmered aromatics. Lost in Gender Identification & Sexuality

Nearly 500 anti-LGBTQ+ bills have been introduced in state legislatures so far this year according to the Associated Press with at least 17 states passing laws that restrict or ban gender-affirming care for transgender minors. With alarmingly increased cases of transgender identity and gender dysphoria among adolescents, gender-affirming care for minors has become a politically polarized topic rather than human rights. Intolerance is a word that has been buzzing in my mind ever since Mr. Donald Trump won the Presidential Election in 2016. It was a heart-breaking day for me as I witnessed Mr. Trump win 62,985,106 American votes and become the 45th President of this nation with 306 electoral votes. Nearly 46% of American voters cast their votes for a man who spits out words of hate towards minorities and protected class. Cluttered. It is one of the most damaging states, physically and emotionally. We often speak of clutter as something physical, yet how can the mind remain clear when the space around it is not? Over the past year, clutter invaded both my space and my mind as I navigated a workplace shaped by toxic management. It spilled over first emotionally and then physically. Fatigue and labile hypertension drained me, stealing my ability to be intentional with my time and space. On weekends, I found myself trapped in bed, fast asleep. Movement that had once been effortless and woven into my daily rhythm disappeared, and with it went the balance I had worked so hard to maintain. I told myself I was doing okay, that resting when my body demanded it was enough. And yes, we must listen to our bodies. Chaos. It’s a fitting word for the times we’re living in. Everything feels like it’s happening all at once. The federal government is shut down. Grocery prices are through the roof. The job market is sinking, and the housing market is completely unhinged. I read somewhere that utility bills are about to spike, too. Meanwhile, here in Los Angeles, it still feels like summer—despite the calendar insisting it's almost November. Climate change, anyone? Racists are confused about geography. Just a reminder: Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory. Bad Bunny is a U.S. citizen. Enough said. A basic grocery run now costs me around $100—and that’s without a bottle of Champagne. I will not vote for Biden, but I will cast my vote for him.

This November, millions of Americans will be voting for the next President of the United States. It is no secret that I am neither on Team Biden nor Trump. If you follow my blog and IG stories, you already know that my perspectives align not with a single political party; however, I fluidly align based on what I believe is fair, lawful, and mindful of civility and humanity on topics and issues. I tend to lean towards the traditional Republicans when it comes to fiscal responsibilities of our government while leaning towards the traditional Democrats when it comes to social issues. One thing I will not shed in my perspective on governing and political philosophies is that law and order are required for civility.
