Style LookBook: May 2024

Image
May has been so far more of winter rather than summer in Los Angeles. By the way, I consider any temperature below 70°F to be freezing. So! Rather than jumping into May with splashes of color, this month's LookBook is all about passage into the summer months with two look options from last month's Style LookBook .  [top, glam-chic option] SANDRO Crystal-Embellished Cropped Tank Top [top, sophisticated option] JACQUEMUS Le Haut Pablo chiffon blouse [shorts] PINKO High-Waisted Tailored Shorts [shoes] CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN Athina Colorblock Sandal [blazer] OPEN EDIT Relaxed Fit Blazer [purse] SIMON MILLER Pill Clutch ps: While all items are curated by me, I receive commissions on purchased items. pss: Items shown are not shown in scale.

Style LookBook: February 2024

Image
This year's first LookBook started with a fabulously striking  Patou Off-Shoulder Faille Midi Dress  in red along with  Saint Laurent Le 57 Quilted Shoulder Bag  pulled forward from 2023 LookBooks of January , March , and June to emphasize that not everything has to be the newest and the latest to be stylish. Although it seems appropriate to pull forward the red dress from last month to February in time for Valentine's Day, I'm going to show my true color... I don't care much about Valentine's Day. If we need a commercialized special day to pressure us into showing how much we love others, then you know... Is that meaningful?  Not to regress too much into the subject of love, relationships, and meaningfulness, I will glide over to this month's overdue LookBook. Rather than something pink, red, and hearts popping everywhere, this month's LookBook is about chicness of casualness.  [top] CECILIE BAHNSEN Selena Blossom-Matelassé Cami Top [jeans] TIBI Sid Wide

Style LookBook: January 2024

Image
I wanted to start 2024 with a striking Style LookBook without being delusive. So! I curated a bold red dress by Patou, not just in color, but also in silhouette to pair with a classic cape coat. Sometimes, a timeless piece like a cape coat can be more striking than anything fresh off a couture show.  In the true style of Exhaling Life, I couldn't let every piece for the first Style LookBook of 2024 be new and thus pulled the Saint Laurent Le 57 Quilted Shoulder Bag from June , March and January 2023 Style LookBooks. Pieces such as the quilted shoulder bag deserve to be in the spotlight for years if not decades.  Here is to 2024 with some things new and some things from our past, but no matter what, to be bold, fabulous and fierce in our styles, days, love and life.  [dress] PATOU Off-Shoulder Faille Midi Dress [coat] GUCCI Cape-Detail Single-Breasted Coat [boots] PARIS TEXAS Slouchy Suede 85mm Ankle Boots [bag] SAINT LAURENT Le 57 Quilted Shoulder Bag [earrings] SHASHI Celeste P

Style Makers: Trench Coats

Image
Fall is just around the corner! That is what I'm telling myself as this week's weather in Los Angeles has been more summer rather than autumn. Nonetheless, there is nothing more iconic than trench coats in the fall months. With hopes that autumn will appear and stay in Los Angeles very soon, here are seven curated trench coats to elevate your style for the cooler months ahead: [one] BLUMARINE Tied-Waist Denim Trench Coat [two] ANNIE BING Dylan Coat [three] A.W.A.K.E. Style Basics: Hoodies

Image
I'm dreaming of cool months of autumn as Los Angeles cools down from several days of intense heat. I stare at the stack of hoodies in my closet and long for the days of hoodies, jeans and boots. Time is fluid, so the days of gentle breezes and cool temperatures will arrive for us to style in casual chic with hoodies. Below are eight curated hoodies for a voguish-urban casual vibe: [one] ALLSAINTS Jamie Sleeveless Adjustable Zip Hoodie [two] 1017 ALYX 9SM Black Buckle Hoodie [three] DEPARTURE New York Hoodie [four] AQUA Drop Shoulder Cashmere Hoodie [five] AVIATOR NATION Rainbow Stripe Hoodie [six] REBECCA MINKOFF Janine Hoodie [seven] CALVIN KLEIN Logo Tape Zip Hoodie [eight] H&M Oversized Fleece Hoodies ps: While I curated the pieces, I will receive commissions from the stores on purchases.

Style Makers: All Things Denim

Image
Did you know that denim was first weaved in Nimes, France, back in the late 17th Century, as a mistake while attempting to weave serge? First called serge de Nimes, it came to be called denim by English and French merchants for pure convenience. One of my favorite fabrics, here are eight curated style-making pieces sewn with denim: [1] FRAME Pleat Puff Sleeve Denim Skirt [2] WASH LAB DENIM Bustle Frayed Asymmetric Denim Midi Skirt [3] A.W.A.K.E. MODE Off-The-Shoulder Upcycled-Denim Top [4] RAEY Raw-Hem Organic Cotton Blend Fishtail Denim Skirt [5] Alexander McQueen Cutout Strapless Denim Dress [6] SIMKHAI Kota Strapless Belted Denim Top [7] DAVID KOMA Strapless Denim Bustier Mini Dress [8] BALMAIN Pussy-Bow Stretch-Denim Shirt ps: While all items are curated by me, I receive commissions on purchased items from online stores.

Style LookBook: August 2023

Image
I wanted to curate a Style LookBook for August that is simple and effortless without boredom to beat the heat, so I picked a mini dress in a shade of blue for that cool splash with flutter sleeves and tiered seam details. I've also selected a pair of fabulous stiletto sandals from June and July Style LookBooks , Le Silla Strappy Stiletto Sandals, making them this summer's hot pair! Another comeback piece is Burberry 52mm Gradient Square Sunglasses from last month's Style LookBook . While not a comeback piece from previous Style LookBooks is Sensi Mini Pull-Through Raffia Bag first curated for the Tap.To Shop . This summer is becoming one of the hottest summers in history, so keep hydrated by drinking lots of water, protect your skin by applying generous portions of sunscreen, and stay in style! Items shown in the LookBook are not shown in scale. [DRESS] A.L.C. Haley Dress [SHOES] LE SILLA Strappy Stiletto Sandals [BAG] SENSI Mini Pull-Through Raffia Bag [ACCESSORY] BURBER

Style Basics: Heat Wave Rompers

Image
It is hot, and I mean hot, in Los Angeles. Living in a 100-year-old brick building has its charm, but heat waves without an air conditioner can be tough even with my energy-efficient multi-mini cooling system. To beat the heat, I've been styling in sports bras, tank tops, shorts, and rompers. And, I love rompers! As I scanned through my closet this morning, I grabbed a jumper. Not to wear, but to mod next week and turn it into a romper. A great pair of fabric shears can be so very handy. In case you don't have spare jumpers to mod into rompers or sans a pair of fabric shears , here are eight beat-the-heat in style rompers: [one] VALENTINO GARAVANI Jumpsuit [two] SUNDRESS Anoushka Romper [three] A POTTS Parachute Romper [four] ULLA JOHNSON Arlo Cotton-Poplin Playsuit [five] JUST BEE QUEEN Solang Romper [six] HUDSON V Neck Romper [seven] ASKK NY Long-Sleeve Denim Romper [eight] TOPSHOP Long Sleeve Linen & Cotton Romper ps: While these are 100% curated by me, I receive commis

Style Makers: Flat Sandals

Image
Heatwave! In the last few years, this extreme weather pattern has become the norm rather than news as we experience recording temperatures due to man-made climate change. So, even this ardent lover of boots, think shorts and boots, has boxed away the boots for flat sandals now that summer arrived in Los Angeles while I was in Mexico City last week roaming the beautiful city in my pair of  Jeffrey Campbell Linques 2 Flip-Flops . While I don't recommend roaming the city in flip-flops with too many water puddles to hop over, I do recommend the city if you haven't been. Mexico City, Mexico The mini olive tree in my space soaked up the summer weather during the week I was in Mexico... It grew so much taller in such a short time. It certainly made me smile! While I wish no one the detriments of the heatwave, I am celebrating the summer weather and the tree's burst in height with seven pairs of style-making flat sandals. Of course, Jeffrey Campbell Linques 2 Flip-Flops is include
